Yukon River
 
The Yukon River is the longest river in
Yukon, and the third longest river in North America. The
Yukon River flows northwest from the Coastal Range mountains
of northern British Columbia, through the Yukon Territory and
Alaska to the Bering Sea. Its overall length is 3,185
kilometers, with 1,149 km within Canadian borders. The
Yukon River is one of the most important salmon-breeding
rivers in the world. Each year it supports huge Chinook salmon
returning to spawn in its tributary creeks.
Fraser River
 
The Fraser River is the
longest river within British Columbia, and the tenth longest
river in Canada. The Fraser River begins in the Rocky
Mountains and flows for 1,375 km into the Strait of Georgia in
Vancouver. The Fraser River is known as one of the most
productive salmon rivers in the world.
Tens of millions
of Pacific salmon return annually to spawn in the Fraser River
and tributaries, that includes all five species of salmon,
Sockeye, Pink, Chinook, Coho and Steelhead.
Mackenzie River
 
The Mackenzie River originates at Great
Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, and flows north into
the Arctic Ocean. It is the longest river in Canada at
1,738 kilometers. The Mackenzie River is navigable for
approximately five months of the year as it freezes over in
October and the ice on the river breaks up in May. The
Mackenzie River Valley is rich in wildlife and home to huge
populations of caribou as well as black bears, grizzly bears,
moose and wolves.
Bow River
 
The Bow River begins in the Canadian Rockies
of Banff National Park and flows southeast for 587 km towards
the city of Calgary, Alberta. The Bow River provides
great fishing in all four seasons of the year. Serious anglers
from all over the world visit the Bow River for its thriving
population of brown and rainbow trout. The Bow River holds a
resident population of rainbow and brown trout that has one of
the best growth rates to be found on any river system in the
world. Average trout catches range from 17-22 inches.
Columbia River
 
The Columbia River begins at
Columbia Lake in the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia,
Canada and flows northwest and then south towards Washington,
USA. The river is 1,243 miles long, 498 miles of the
Columbia River are in Canada. The Columbia River is
known for outstanding Trout fishing.
